Why do you want to be in this program and why are you excited to be a part of it?
I wanted to join this program to surround myself with some of the best teachers in the area. I wanted to continue to learn and grow as an educator. Also, I am at a place in my career in which I think I am ready to give back to the broader teaching community, and this program seemed like a platform from which I might do that.
What qualities does a teacher leader possess that you would like to develop within yourself by the end of the program?
Teacher leaders are helpers, mentors, and guides for other teachers. They inspire other teachers to improve their own practice and also to share their best practices with others. Teacher leaders can be leaned on for support.
What is a current issue in K-12 science education that you are interested in helping to solve?
I am interested in helping shape science curriculum so that it emphasizes broad, recurring themes, reflects modern understanding of chemistry, and requires the regular use of science reasoning to solve problems.
