Why do you want to be in this program and why are you excited to be a part of it?
I am excited to be a part of this program because I know that the kinds of revolutionary changes in viewpoints, attitudes, and problem solving in science that are necessary to advance humanity are ultimately going to come from the quality of education imparted to students. My hope is that the program will give me the leadership skill necessary to make a positive impact on other educators that translates to their students.
What qualities does a teacher leader possess that you would like to develop within yourself by the end of the program?
I’d like to learn to lead from behind. I think the hallmark of being a leader is when to speak up and when to stay silent to maximize benefits.
What is a current issue in K-12 science education that you are interested in helping to solve?
I am interested in solving the problem of socioeconomic segregation in America. I feel it is not equitable and diminishes the amount of growth we all could enjoy.
